Health Club & Gym Memberships FAQ
What’s the difference between Nordic Balance membership and In & Out Club membership?
Nordic Balance is located within the In & Out Club but operates separately. We offer our gym membership options, personal training, and therapies. In & Out Club members have access to the gym, pool, and spa facilities as part of their membership. However, they must book and pay for additional services through Nordic Balance. Learn more.
Can gym members rent a locker?
Yes, we have a limited number of lockers available for rent. Large lockers are £20 per month, and small lockers are £15. We encourage club members to rent lockers from the club directly, but we can accommodate them through our system in certain circumstances.
Do you need to book the pool?
Currently, no booking is required for the pool, and it can be used ad hoc.
What are the gym’s opening hours?
Monday to Saturday: 6:30 am – 11:00 pm (including Bank Holidays)
Sunday: 6:30 am – 9:00 pm
Pool and spa facilities close slightly earlier, at 10:00 pm. Nordic Balance reception is staffed from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Thursday and from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Fridays. The club reception (Babmaes Reception) operates 24 hours.

Gym Passes FAQ
Can I purchase a gym pass?
Yes, we offer gym passes. A single gym pass costs £20, or if you prefer, you can purchase a block of 10 passes for £15 per session.
What facilities are included with the gym pass?
A gym pass grants full access to our facilities, including the weights and cardio studio, functional training studio, stretching studio, swimming pool, and spa.
Please note that first-time visitors to the health club must present their ID and booking confirmation upon arrival at the club. Access will be refused without these.
Squash Court FAQ
How does squash booking work?
The Squash Court can be booked by Nordic Balance members, In & Out Club members, or non-members. All users must be registered in our system before booking. Nordic Balance and club members enjoy a discounted rate of £7 per game (normally £20) with the ‘Squash Court User’ add-on to their profile. Club members need to provide their membership number for identification.
We also offer a Squash Membership, allowing up to three weekly games for £75. For a monthly membership, please register online.
Personal Training FAQ
How much does personal training cost?
For a one-hour session, personal training sessions at Nordic Balance are priced at £75. To make personal training more accessible and affordable, we offer packages that reduce the per-session cost. For instance, a package of 10 sessions is available for £525 for 45-minute sessions or £700 for 60-minute sessions.
Personal training is an ongoing process that typically requires more than one session a week over several months to achieve significant fitness and body composition changes. Clients who train with a personal trainer two or more times a week are considered members, allowing them to use the facilities at no extra charge.
How do you book in with a trainer?
New personal training clients usually start with an initial assessment with one of our experienced sports therapists. This assessment helps us understand the client’s fitness level and identify any imbalances or injuries that might affect training. We will then recommend the best trainer or trainers for the client. If a client already knows which trainer they want to work with, that’s perfectly fine, though we still suggest undergoing an assessment.
Do you offer classes?
We currently do not offer group classes. However, we provide yoga and Pilates sessions as part of our training services on a one-to-one basis.
Can a therapist do personal training sessions?
Many of our therapists are also qualified personal trainers. However, we encourage clients to use our PT team for training and our therapy team for therapeutic services. Whilst a physiotherapy session might include elements of personal training, it differs from a traditional PT session.
Clients who have recovered from therapy may be advised to continue with a personal trainer.
Therapies FAQ
What’s the difference between physiotherapy, osteopathy, and chiropractic care?
Physiotherapy focuses on rehabilitation, making it ideal for injuries and post-surgery recovery. It combines hands-on treatments with prescribed exercise plans to target specific issues.
Osteopathy takes a comprehensive and preventative approach, aiming to realign the body for self-healing. It involves hands-on techniques, such as musculoskeletal, cranial, and visceral methods, to prevent surgery and address daily body use.
Chiropractic care balances these approaches by concentrating on the spine and nervous system, often using spinal manipulations, hands-on treatments, and exercises to address ergonomic and postural concerns.
What’s included in an initial assessment with a physiotherapist?
An initial assessment with a physiotherapist, chiropractor or osteopath will comprise three things: a full diagnosis, developing a treatment plan, discussing your options, and performing the first treatment if it is safe and relevant.
What’s the difference between a sports massage and an initial assessment?
A sports massage provides surface-level treatment for symptom relief, potentially including exercise advice and dry-needling. In contrast, an initial assessment is for complex cases requiring in-depth analysis and opens up the medical practitioner’s full skill set and expertise for comprehensive treatment.
What’s the difference between a medi pedi and a podiatry appointment?
A medical pedicure is a general tidy-up performed by a podiatrist, addressing nails and hard skin calluses. It does not include scented foot baths or nail polish, as it is a medical appointment rather than a luxury one.
Suppose you have a specific issue to address. In that case, an initial podiatry assessment allows the entire session to focus on that issue rather than attempting to address multiple minor concerns in one session.
What is the difference between acupuncture and dry-needling?
Acupuncture involves using needles in Chinese medicine, focusing on subtle meridians as an alternative medicine approach. Our practitioners use dry-needling, which releases muscular tension using a mechanical and evidence-based approach, rather than working with traditional acupuncture techniques.
How does shockwave therapy work, and how many sessions will I need?
Shockwave therapy is effective for tendinopathies and helps when conventional physiotherapy has plateaued. It uses a machine that fires a bullet within a handpiece using pressurised air to break down tendon fibres, promoting better healing. While not comfortable, it is effective. Typically, 3-6 sessions are recommended to see results. Packages are not offered as each case varies, and your therapist will advise on the necessary number of sessions during your initial assessment.
How long are appointments?
Initial assessments are 45 minutes, with ongoing treatments ranging from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on requirements. Sports massages can be booked for 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes.
What is the cancellation policy for appointments?
For treatments and personal training, you must provide us with a 24-hour notice; otherwise, the full cost of the appointment will be applied.
