In and Out (Naval and Military Club), St James’s
Nordic Balance is located within the In and Out (Naval and Military Club), a private member’s club located in the heart of London’s esteemed St James’s Square. Once the home of Lady Nancy Astor, it has a rich history spanning over 150 years, and the building itself, at No. 4 St James’s Square, is over 340 years old.
Our gym, accessed via the courtyard and situated in the basement of the club’s building, occupies what used to be the old kitchen. While we’ve recently modernised the space with our Scandinavian design, we’ve retained much of its historical charm you can still see the old cast iron ovens in the functional studio!
The In and Out (Naval and Military Club) welcomes both ladies and gentlemen, including Armed Forces officers.
This club offers a unique blend of tranquillity and vibrant social activities for its members and their guests.
The club has two entrances: the formal front entrance, upholding cherished traditions with a strict dress code, and the Babmaes Street entrance, just off Jermyn Street, which leads to a relaxed business centre, well-appointed accommodations, state-of-the-art gym facilities, and an inviting swimming pool.
Members and their guests can enjoy exquisite dining, elegant banquets, and a convivial bar atmosphere. The lavish State rooms are perfect for various events, while the peaceful courtyard provides a tranquil oasis in the bustling city.
For accommodations, the club offers fifty-two en-suite bedrooms at competitive rates, ensuring guests a comfortable and memorable stay.
As Nordic Balance finds its home within the In and Out, members of the club can enjoy exclusive wellness services and facilities in this prestigious and historically rich setting. (Please note that a gym membership with Nordic Balance does not provide you with access to the In & Out Club. A separate membership is required. Find out more.)

Frequently Asked Questions from In & Out Club Members
What’s the difference between the membership at Nordic Balance and In & Out Club?
Nordic Balance is situated within the In & Out club; however, it is a separate business offering its own gym membership options, personal training and therapies.
In & Out club members are entitled to use the gym, pool and spa facilities as part of their membership; however, they are required to book and pay for any additional services through Nordic Balance.
Can In & Out Members bring a guest to the gym?
Yes, but guests are required to purchase a gym pass directly from Nordic Balance before visiting.
What is a reciprocal member?
Reciprocal members are members of clubs that have a relationship with the In&Out club. This can be another club in the UK or a related club internationally. As they are not ‘our’ members, they are still required to purchase a day pass. They may receive the discounted squash rate. Contact the In & Out club for more information.
